Why You Should Visit Prague First On A Europe Tour

When you think about a European tour, Prague is often close to the top of the list. It’s a classic, historical city with a lot of charm.

But in this post, we’re going to argue that it should be the first place you visit. We’re not pulling any punches!

Here’s our reasoning:

Easy Arrival

Arriving in some cities can be a nightmare. The airport is fifty miles away and then you have to somehow get all your luggage onto coaches to finally take you to where you want to go.

That’s not the case in Prague. The airport is fully integrated into the rest of the transport network, so you can literally start sightseeing immediately if you want.

What’s more, the center of the city is quite compact. You can see all the “spires” pretty easily and enjoy cheap beers at the same time.

Easy Storage

When you arrive, you can also take advantage of services like Radical Storage Prague. This means you don’t need to drop your luggage off at a hotel. You can simply lock up your big suitcases and bags and then be on your way, collecting them later when it’s convenient.

Again, a lot of European cities don’t have services like this, but Prague does.

Budget-Friendly Base

Another reason to start in Prague is that it serves as a budget-friendly base. Prices are cheaper than in most other European cities, especially Western ones, meaning that holiday rentals and hotels are lower.

You’ll also notice that the food is pretty cheap. You can pick up a local pastry for a few dollars and you don’t have to pay big banking fees to take out cash.

It’s At Europe’s Heart

You’ll also notice that Prague is right in the heart of Europe. Essentially, you can travel anywhere from this city, whether you want to go south into the Alps, Croatia and Italy, or north into Germany and the Scandinavian countries. You can even go east if you’ve never explored Eastern European countries before.

To give you an idea of distances, Munich is about four hours away and you can get to Budapest in just six hours. Train services are exceptional across Europe.

Easy-To-Use Public Transport

Public transport systems can be challenging to use in places like London and Paris. But in Prague, they’re quite straightforward. The city operates on a tram and metro system, and getting around is quite intuitive. If you miss your stop, it doesn’t matter a great deal.

These days, there are also apps for buying tickets. These are easy to use and integrate with international payment systems.

English-Friendly

Finally, if you’re an English speaker, you’ll notice that Prague is an English-friendly place. A lot of people are fluent in the language, so getting around and asking for things in restaurants is fairly easy. You don’t need to know Czech.

So, there you have it: some of the reasons why Prague is one of the best places to go when you’re starting a European tour.
