What is Recognized Sponsorship?

Recognized Sponsorship is a designation given to employers by the IND, allowing them to act as official sponsors for non-EU nationals they wish to hire. Recognized sponsors can facilitate the immigration process for employees under various visa schemes, such as the Highly Skilled Migrant (HSM) Visa, the EU Blue Card, and the Intra-Corporate Transferee (ICT) permit.

This status is mandatory for employers intending to hire highly skilled migrants or sponsor international talent under specific visa programs.

Eligibility Requirements for Employers

To become a recognized sponsor, employers must meet specific criteria set by the IND:

1. Company Registration:

   • The organization must be registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK).

2. Financial Stability:

   • Demonstrate sufficient financial stability and solvency to meet obligations.

3. Integrity Standards:

   • Have no record of violating Dutch employment or immigration laws.

4. Payment of Fees:

   • Pay the recognition fee, which varies depending on the organization’s size and structure (e.g., €4,214 for large companies, €2,105 for small businesses as of 2024).

Application Process

1. Prepare Documentation:

   • Gather all necessary documents, including proof of registration, financial statements, and declarations of integrity.

2. Submit the Application:

   • File the application online through the IND portal or via postal mail.

3. Pay the Fee:

   • Ensure the correct fee is paid to avoid delays.

4. IND Decision:

   • The IND processes applications within approximately four weeks. Approval grants the company Recognized Sponsorship status.
