Philip Allott is Professor Emeritus of International Public Law at Cambridge University, a Fellow of Trinity College Cambridge and a Fellow of the British Academy.

Philip Allott is Professor Emeritus of International Public Law at Cambridge University and a Fellow of Trinity College Cambridge. He was a Legal Adviser in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (1960-1973). Legal Adviser, British Military Government, Berlin (1965-68). Legal Counsellor, British Permanent Representation to the European Communities, Brussels (1972-73). Fellow of Trinity College since 1973, specialising in Constitutional Law, European Union Law, and International Public Law. The main focus of his academic work has been the re-conceiving of the international system in terms of a philosophy of Social Idealism. Bertha Wilson Distinguished Visiting Professor, Dalhousie Law School (1992); : Ganshof van der Meersch Chair, Université Libre de Bruxelles (1996).
