Understanding the New PSLE Scoring System

Singapore, 01

Description

The new PSLE scoring system in Singapore, known as the Achievement Levels (AL) system, was introduced to provide a more balanced approach to assessing students' performance. This system replaces the previous T-score method, which heavily emphasized relative academic performance among peers. The PSLE new scoring system uses Achievement Levels 1 to 8, with AL1 being the highest (representing scores from 90-100) and AL8 the lowest. Each subject receives an individual AL score, and the total PSLE score is calculated by summing the ALs of all four subjects, resulting in a range from 4 to 32.
